CAD-Integration
STAR-CD now comes complete with a new solid modelling CAD interface based on the Parasolids kernel. Together with CAD operations, meshing, setup and post-processing can be done within this single user-friendly object-orientated interface. Many users will never have to leave STAR-Design for their CFD needs.

Users with their own advanced CAD software such as Catia, Pro/Engineer, Unigraphics and SolidWorks can use the STAR-CD add-in which incorporates CFD menus within the native CAD system and allows users to mesh, apply boundaries and fluid properties and post-process within the CAD environment, easing the learning process. Advanced Pre- and Post-
More complex cases are transferred to the pro-STAR integrated pre- and post-processing environment which provides the tools you need to build your complex models, set up and run your analysis and post-process the results.

The process-oriented Graphical User Interface (GUI) is highly intuitive and easy to learn and use. It is provided with a high level interactive user interface, STAR GUIde, which guides you through the model building process of:

creating / importing, checking and ‘fixing’ the grid
specifying boundary locations
selecting thermophysical models, properties and boundary conditions
setting up solution controls

After launching the serial or parallel run, further interactive tools help monitor and steer the calculations. At the end of the analysis, STAR GUIde helps again with extensive post-processing capabilities. These include:

animation
particle tracking
data graphs
a wide range of raster and vector style plots

pro-am: in addition to all the pre and post processing tools in pro-STAR, pro-am has the following features:

pro-surf is a special CAD model interface which is able to import a range of standard and vendor-specific formats such as IGES, Pro/Engineer, Unigraphics, Catia and SolidWorks, repair problem areas and create closed triangulated surfaces ready for volume meshing.
